I use webfaction for a small django-based satire site I run w/ a friend.
Webfaction has been mostly great. Their service has been a high
point--truly amazing and very prompt.<a href="http://www.bestipodcase.com" rel="nofollow">best ipod case</a>

Sounds like it was pretty easy to cancel and get your money back. It's good to hear that they stuck to that promise without putting pressure on you to stay.

I have to say that Webfaction is very simple to use. There's no complications, and I've been please since I started using it.

Well i had a 3 year plan before with another host.
With the current crisis i think 5 years is a dangerous committment. But i'm thinking about using it for 3 years if the first 90 days are working fine.

Webfaction's hosting looked very appealing, but I have never seen 5 year web hosting plans before: http://www.webfaction.com/services/hosting
That is a long time to commit!

I have been with webfaction for a few months now and I only have good things to say about them. There has only been one outage in that timeframe and thanks to their transparency and updates, I got to know which servers were affected and was confident that they were doing their best at working out the issue.

I use webfaction for a static site, a Django site and a wordpress blog and the setup for all 3 of them was flawless. But what I like the most about their service is the ability to ssh to the server hosting my account as if it was my own computer as well as the ability to access my postgres database remotely with pgAdmin.

I haven't used webfaction but did mess around with Media Temple. We quickly switched away from media temple for some reason but don'tt remember why. Dreamhost had a ton of great reviews but then had a terrible security breach in which hundreds of sites were compromised. The word was that they left some passwords unencrypted in a text file.

Nowadays when I do my research on a host I've learned to really look for recent reviews. I've seen a number of hosts start of with awesome service and then it degrades as they get bigger and get bought out. Such a dilemna.
