having one IT guy in the clan is very convenient. I encountered a dishonest computer repair man that made me crazy asking me to buy different parts of computers that
I think out of the issue. anyway, that is the reason why I am now the tech guy of the clan, I dont want it to happen to my family…

some of companies take more cost for a customer that seems doesn’t know much about computer. so, sometime pretend to be expert is better.

The problem is when people find out you’re the family tech guy. I do not mine dealing with my immediate families gadget problems but it’s when you’re seen as a free repair service by people who hardly know you. It’s best to keep some things quiet.

There are a lot of dishonest computer repair people out there taking advantage of people who do not know better. I believe that a smaller repair shop where you know the owners will provide you better service than these big name places like geek squad, etc.

I have completely lost trust in computer repair shops. 1 year back I sent my computer to a repair shop and he said my RAM had a problem. He replaced it and then when I tried using my old RAM on my friend’s comp it worked just fine. From dat day, I have completely stopped trusting those guys.

Sometimes its really hard to trust people, however many local businesses are starting to charge flat rate, and do the amount of work to fit the price. If a problem usually costs $150 and was easier, often times they will clean up the rest of the computer, add some memory or do what would come to the agreed $150 and still help overall. Virus’s are not sciences and most times you dont want to be charged per hour.
