Search Engine Marketing
As a freelance web developer, I often get asked this question: “How do I get listed in the search engines?”
Well, it’s a loaded question really. I’d like to just reply by saying, “Just let the search engines come find you.”
Well the truth is, that is basically what happens. You don’t need to go around submitting your site to search engines like you did back in the nineties. You just need to get some incoming links to your site so the search engines can come find you. And the more the better.
But that again is just the tip of the ice-berg as far as being seen in the search engines. There are so many factors that can get you to the top. SEO (search engine optimization) work is boring, tedious, and monotonous in my opinion. I design sights that work will with the engine spiders, but as for the rest of the work that is involved I’d rather have clients learn how to do it themselves, or send them to some Ethical SEO service.
