Fixing IE Issues

This morning for whatever reason I was loathing IE. I hadn’t done any development work all weekend so I don’t even know why it was on my mind. In any case I had an epiphany of sorts.
Despite being totally proprietary, IE seems to be the most easily exploited browser due to its support of active [...]

Use Google Earth to Track Your Mileage

Recently I’ve taken up hiking during lunch. There is a nice mountain trail behind my house the I really enjoy. There are a few landmarks that I generally try to make it to with the time I have available. I was curious exactly how far those landmarks were so I used Google Earth to find [...]

Windows 7 Releases October 22nd 2009

This morning was the first time I heard an official release date for Windows 7. I’ve been running Windows 7 betas for the past 3 months and it has been far more stable and responsive than Vista was for me. I will definitely be upgrading this one on release day! I have just put in [...]

Pidgin Crashing on Windows 7 64-bit – Fixed

Ever since installing Windows 7 RC, I have not been able to run Pidgin. It would put an icon in the tray, then disappear. Finally after searching the net high and low and found this comment on an open pidgin ticket that seemed to resolve the problem.

Windows 7 Release Candidate is now available. I’ve been using the beta of Windows 7 quite happily for a couple of months now after frustrating ordeals with Vista. The only problem I’ve had with the beta version of Windows 7 is having Windows Explorer crash 3-5 times a day. It hasn’t been a huge deal [...]

I been a Vonage customer for a long time. Just to give you an idea, when we first ordered it, someone from Qwest tried to call my wife to get us to use their long distance plan at 7 cents per minute. My wife told them we had had unlimited long distance to the US [...]

Windows 7 Media Center Decoder Error

So for the past couple of weeks, I haven’t been able to watch TV on my install of Windows 7 beta. I though perhaps it was because I had installed some codecs when I was playing with VirtualDub because I got this error:

The video decoder is not working, is not installed, or is not supported. [...]

Vista, Ubuntu, Mac, Windows 7… what to do?

So I’ve been running Vista for the past year and a half. I know Vista gets a lot of grief, but overall, I really like the OS. Well, I should say I liked the OS because I’m not too happy with it now.
I recently purchased a new iPhone. After synching it with my Vista PC [...]

Webfaction Limited Review

UPDATE: Since writing this review, I have set up two accounts with Webfaction. Check out my latest review.
I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for Webfaction for new Django developers who want an easy to use hosting solution. As you can see from previous posts that I have a VPS that I’ve set up Django on. [...]
